Light - Macraweave Woven Wall Hanging

Light is a celebration of the changing seasons, when the darkness gives way to light and the world explodes with life.   It is inspired by the pinnacle of light in the year, the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, literally chasing the darkness away with light.

This textured macraweave has been created using a variety of natural fibres, including merino, cotton, wool, banana yarn, hand spun Art Yarn by Aurore, chiffon and frizz, mounted on two copper frames. The fibres and colours spiral together and the result is a statement wall hanging that begs to be touched. 

The wall hanging marries both macrame and weaving with the outer circle a study in square knots in different fibres and the inner circle a free form weave.   

The inner and outer rings are connected together at a single point, allowing the rings to move independently, something that can be appreciated if the weave is hung in a central location, where the air flow will allow the rings to spin and sway. The use of negative space helps to convey a light, bright and airy feel. 

This hand woven piece will compliment any décor, adding a bold focal point in a minimalist space, or a textured statement in an eclectic, maximalist gallery wall.
